Abeer from CakeWhiz share her scoop on this design:
Themed baby showers are so popular these days. And ever baby shower needs fancy cakes and cupcakes!
Here is a fun tutorial for a cake that looks like a crying baby. You can even make a smaller version of this and use it as cupcake toppers.
Follow the written instructions and the photos below:
Step 1 Start off by baking a round cake. After it has cooled, cover it in frosting and brown fondant.
Step 2 To make ears, cut out 2 “moon” shaped cardboard pieces.
Step 3 Brush royal icing or corn syrup on these pieces and cover them in brown fondant. Stick a toothpick behind each piece, using a crafty glue gun.
Step 4 Press these ears on either side of your cake.
Step 5 To make hair, roll out black fondant into a long rope and then twist it into a spiral shape. Push a toothpick into the base.
Step 6 Press this spiral piece on the top of your cake.
Step 7 To make the crying mouth, cut out a black fondant circle, a red fondant leaf and 2 white squares. Add details on the tongue with a black edible marker.
Step 8 Brush some water behind each piece to arrange it the way shown in this picture.
Step 9 Stick the mouth piece on top of your cake. For the nose, roll out a small brown ball and stick that in the center of the cake. For the eyes, cut out black fondant “V” shapes and stick those on top of the cake too.
And you are done!
Enjoy this cake with your loved ones!
